Barcelona City Break

Barcelona City Break
July 8, 2015 Blue Vanilla

If you have a long weekend of sangria and seeing the sights of the city of Barcelona planned but still haven’t decided what to pack in your carry on, you’re in luck because here at Blue Vanilla we have created a special look book for such an occasion.

The best time to visit the city of culture and stunning architecture is definitely early spring or late autumn, when the weather is a comfortable temperature, perfect for light summer dresses and comfortable, closed toe sandals (Barcelona gets very busy!) teamed with a roomy satchel bag and some tortoise shell sunglasses.

A co-ord set is perfect for the daytime when you plan on climbing all the way to the top of the Sagrada Familia and taking in the breathtaking views of the city while appreciating Gaudi’s incredible architectural skills. We also love the idea of some floaty culottes for daytime chic, which work well with a crop top and ankle-grazing Converse, for when you want to stay comfortable and cool while playing the tourist.

Barcelona also features some fantastic nightlife to take advantage of. We recommend heading to the Gothic Quarter for an evening and navigating its alleys until you discover places such as Milk bar or club Jamboree. This is the perfect opportunity to lather yourself in shimmering after sun and then slip on a fun playsuit and heels, to wear while sipping a cocktail at the bar and contemplating never returning home to your 9-5 job.

Intricately crafted, towering buildings are probably the first things which spring to mind when Barcelona comes up in conversation but it is actually home to some fun beaches as well; perfect for when you just want to throw on a bikini and a lightweight kaftan and relax by the sea.

Barceloneta beach is definitely the most popular sandy destination near the city and is easily reachable via the Yellow Line on the Metro – however, if you fancy a less crowded experience, Icària beach is also a good spot to visit. Oh, and if you’re feeling brave you’ve also got Marbella beach, which is known as an unofficial nudist spot. Yikes!

Whether your city break is jam packed with an itinerary of touristy activities or will be spent simply sipping drinks and relaxing on the beach, check out our look book which features plenty of outfit ideas that should help you feel amazing once you step off the plane.
