What to Expect in Spring / Summer 2019:

We’re all eagerly awaiting those sunny spring evenings, imagining sitting outside sippin’ Aperol soaking up the last of the day’s rays. Everyone has their eyes on Spring/Summer 2019 and what the key trends will be, what will everyone be wearing and posting on Insta with #ootd?...

With so many Spring/Summer 2019 looks to absorb, which ones can we actually own and add our own individual style to? We’re here to show you how to achieve these looks effortlessly, without breaking the bank! We’ll showcase styles from the much anticipated debut of Riccardo Tisci for Burberry, pieces from Alexa Chung first show at London Fashion week, and Victoria Beckham’s return to London to celebrate her decade in fashion.

Spring Summer 19: The Prints

It’s Spring, so florals are a given!... the fashion worlds obsession with florals seemed to reach its peak on the 2019 catwalks. Prints should be worn all over, layered and clashed, with little concern for matching. This year they appear more chaotic and contrasting, the more prints the merrier in some designer’s collections, including Caroline Herrara and Alexander McQueen.
Animal Print is here to stay, at least a little longer, making an appearance at Giambattista Vali and Richard Quinn shows. Riccardo Tisci’s debut for Burberry, one of the most anticipated shows following his transformation of Givenchy into a darker, romanticised, gothic fashion house, did not disappoint with silky cream beige's, and splashes of print and colour. Gucci also supported the animal print trends with a classic leopard and snake print look.

Spring Summer 19: The Colours

The catwalks were strewn with a myriad of stunning colours, from neon and bold colour blocks to a whole lot of warm beige and aspen gold. Riccardo Tisci redrew Burberry with 50 shades of trench-coat-colour, and beige was prominent in collections from Max Mara to Balmain.
The colours we loved were pale pastels, lovely lilacs, pretty pinks, and beautiful blues. Oh so Spring! As seen in Alexa Chung and Paul Castello’s shows… Time to channel our softer sides with imaginings of misty rose gardens, soft sky blues, dreamy mint ice cream and lush lavender blush.

Spring Summer 19: The Shapes

Oversized styles from blazers to jumpers were common on the catwalks. Collared dresses, button front tailoring, and bows were reoccurring themes from Marc Jacobs to Valentino. Designers with tailoring speciality nailed the oversized and button trends, our favourites included Christopher Kane and Burberry. These styles appear across our Blue Vanilla collections as easy to wear oversized tops and button front dresses. Dress it up with a smart heel for that perfect garden party look, and dress it down with your fav sneakers for an everyday trendy staple.
Bows and high neck collars were seen at great scale, no bow was too big! Accentuated bell shoulders were popular. Our Blue Vanilla collections feature bow collared jumpers, perfect for an on trend work look, collared dresses that can be dressed smart with a stiletto and dressed down with a fedora and flat boots.
